Considered
one of the best Bluegill holes in the Eastern
U.S., Plum
Orchard Lake impounds 202 acres and provides 6.5
miles of shore line, with a maximum depth of 40
feet. This popular New River Gorge area fishing
lake has good populations of sunfish, large
mouth bass, channel catfish and crappie. The
lake's water conditions are usually clear, and
nighttime angling is successful. Three boat
launching ramps are located on the lake. Boat
motors may be of unlimited horse power in the
unrestricted portion of the lake, but in the
restricted part of the fishing area, only
electric motors are allowed. Fishing with
minnows is prohibited.

From I-77: From
the Pax (Exit 54) off the West Virginia Turnpike
(Interstate 77), take County Rt. 23 to
Plum Orchard Lake.
From Mount
Hope: Take WV-27 to Pax, then take
County Rt. 23 to Plum Orchard Lake.
