Located 1.2 miles from the Thurmond Trailhead, this
popular Thurmond area hiking trail has some steep and
rocky terrain making it a hike of some difficulty.
As the trail winds down the Gorge it passes alone
abandon coke ovens and other stonework from an abandoned
turn-of-the-century coal mining operation.
Notes: The rail line in the area near Dunloup
Creek are active (as is railroad line across the
river in Thurmond). Stay off the railroad tracks and
away from trains!

Trailhead Information: The Arbuckle Connector Trail
can be reached from either from the Thurmond-Minden
Trail or from the Brooklyn-Southside Junction Trail , via either the following trailheads:
From the
Thurmond-Minden Trail
Thurmond Trailhead:
From U.S. Rt. 19, take the Glen Jean–Thurmond exit and
make an immediate left. Go 0.5 miles to Glen Jean, turn
right on State Rt. 25, and follow the road 5.1 miles to
the trailhead, located on the left.
Minden Trailhead:
From U.S. Rt. 19, take the Main Street Exit at Oak Hill,
WV.
-> If approaching from
the south on U.S. Rt. 19, turn left and go 0.2
miles.
-> If approaching from the north on U.S. Rt. 19, turn
right and go 0.1 miles.
Cross highway bridge over Rt.19, then turn left onto
Minden Road, traveling 2.1 miles. Trailhead is on
right.
From the
Brooklyn-Southside Junction Trail Cunard
Trailhead:
From Fayetteville, WV, follow W.Va. 16 south to a
left onto Gatewood Road. Follow the latter 4.6 miles,
turn left at the Cunard sign. Go 1.8 miles at
signs indicating Cunard River Access Road. Parking
is about 0.5 miles further, on right.
