Junkyard Trail

This short trail leads hikers along the base of cliffs that overlook the New River Gorge north of the Canyon Rim Visitor Center. The first hundred feet of the trail wander through a former dump. You’re likely to encounter rock climbers on the cliffs here.

Directions

Junkyard Trailhead: From US-19, turn onto Lansing-Edmond Road (CR-5) just north of the Canyon Rim Visitor Center. Turn right onto Fayette Station Road (CR-82) and follow approximately 1.9 miles to its junction with Burma Road (DR-177) at left. Ascend Burma Road approximately 0.4 miles farther to switchback area developed to allow buses shuttling whitewater rafters to ascend out of the gorge. Trailhead parking is on right past switchback area. The trailhead is at left in corner of switchback.
