Kates Plateau Trail
This New River Gorge hiking trail follows old logging roads along the wall of the canyon of Glade Creek and among the fields and forests of the highland plateaus to its east. The trail can be accessed from the Pinch Creek trailhead parking area on Glade Creek or by way of the Polls Plateau Trail from the Bragg Trailhead. The arm of that ascends Kates Branch from the Pinch Creek Trailhead is steep and its crossing at Kates Branch can be challenging.Trailhead Information
Directions
Pinch Creek Trailhead: From I-64 at Grandview (Exit 129), follow WV-9 south 0.5 miles to a left onto Scott Branch Road (CR-22). Proceed approximately 1.25 miles, descending along Scott Branch to a parking area along Glade Creek. NOTE: High-clearance, four-wheel-drive vehicles are recommended as CR-22 its steep, rocky, and often muddy..
Bragg Trailhead: From I-64 at Bragg (Exit 133), follow Plumley Mountain Road (CR-27) approximately one mile to a left onto Polls Branch Road. Follow the latter, gravelled road approximately one half mile to the trailhead marker at its end. Trailhead parking is limited.
