Long Point Trail

Among the wonders of the New River Gorge, the rock outcrop long known as Long Point seems thrust out into the very center of the gorge and there provides a 360-degree panorama that includes one of the best views of the New River Gorge Bridge. Bring your camera and binoculars and allow time to contemplate the view.

NOTES: Use caution near the cliff edge, as there are no guardrails. This hiking trail is not ideal for families with young children and persons with a fear of heights.

Newton Road Trailhead: From US-19 at Fayetteville, WV, follow WV-16 south to a left onto Gatewood Road (CR-9). Follow Gatewood Road 1.9 miles to the left onto Newton Road (CR-9/8). Parking is about 50 yards ahead on the left.
