Horseback Riding

Horseback riding provides one of the best ways to tour the New River Gorge region. Stables and trail guides are located near the rim of the gorge and beyond. Several whitewater outfitters also provide guided horseback rides.

Our nightly "Sunset Rides" are becoming a tradition among folks ride out to our Concho Overlook for the best sunsets this side of Key West. Rain gear and approved headgear is provided. All our rides go rain or shine and all-year long. We recommend you wear long pants and a long sleeved shirt, shoes or boots (avoid sandals), a hat, and sunscreen.

Our horseback tours are designed to provide novice and expert riders an unforgettable adventure in the Meadow River Gorge, the most remote of the four canyons under the protection of the National Park Service in southern West Virginia. Three-hour, seven-hour, and overnight tours are available year-round groups of eight and fewer members. Just a spectacular as the New River Gorge -- but much less crowded -- the Meadow River Gorge offers far more to see and do. Depending on your skill level and desires, we'll explore old railroad tunnels, visit forgotten historic sites, swim in crystal-clear pools, and wander through miles of hemlock forest and towering cliffs that few people have ever seen. We're a fifteen-minute drive north of the New River Gorge Bridge and south of Summersville Lake by the U.S. 19 expressway and can also arrange climbing, kayaking, and rafting adventures in conjunction with your adventure. Our three-bedroom guest house with hot tub is also available and convenient to local shopping and restaurants.
