River Gorge and in several state forests and wildlife
management areas
in the New River region. Hunting shops may also be found throughout the
greater Fayetteville and Beckley, WV area. Thousands of forested acres
of private land are also available for hunting by permission. |

We provide all the transportation from your place of lodging, though guests have the option to stay in our modern cabin with 300 feet of private frontage on the Greenbrier River. Map showing Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) in West Virginia open to the public and managed by the WV Department of Natural Resources. Includes information on the Plum Orchard Lake WMA, near Pax, WV, which features hunting (for turkey, squirrel, raccoon and waterfowl),a rifle range, and the 202 acre lake itself which provides the angler with its good populations of sunfish, largemouth bass, channel catfish and crappie.
Plum Orchard Lake WMA
Whitetail deer can be found and a growing population of wild turkeys is present, but regulations allow spring gobbler hunting only. The forest supports an abundance of squirrel, and raccoons are a common forest visitor. Rabbit and grouse and resident and migratory water fowl provide additional hunting opportunities. A shooting range is available on the area.
