Ace's progressive building-block method introduces beginners to rock climbing from the ground up. Ace's beginner climbs are designed for the absolute beginner who has never been rock climbing and would like to sample the sport with minimum investment in time and gear. Fundamental-instruction courses open with the foundation skills needed to climb safely and with confidence. Intermediate courses extract the essence and adventure of climbing with multi-pitch climbs, and our advanced courses train climbers to lead and instruct others in the sport.

Our climbing adventures take place on some of New River Gorge's more than 2000 rock climbing routes. The climbs range from 30 to 120 ft. at all levels of difficulty. Guides will pick an appropriate climbing site and set up the climbing equipment. The guide(s) will instruct the guests in the proper use of the equipment and climbing techniques.

Since 1994, our rock-climbing school and guide service in Fayetteville has introduced thousands to the fundamentals of climbing in a safe, highly professional way. Our classroom is the world-famous New River Gorge, one of the largest climbing areas in the U.S., home of bullet-hard sandstone cliffs that offer a tremendous variety of climbs in a stunning setting. We offer beginner's full-day and two-day courses, full-day or two-day intermediate courses, sports climbing and self-rescue clinics, and group clinics. Our shop, Water Stone Outdoors, carries complete lines of climbing equipment, climbing books, and area climbing maps found nowhere else. We also offer one of the nation's largest selections of climbing shoes, as well as sandals, hiking boots, and approach shoes.

Because we specialize in pontoon-boat rentals, we offer the lowest rental rates on Summersville Lake while affording guests the highest quality of product and service. Pontoon boats are particularly useful on Summersville Lake for rock climbers scaling the high cliffs along the eastern shores and scuba divers exploring its submerged cliffs and boulders. Open mid-May through mid-September.
