West Virginia's largest lake, Summersville Lake is an outdoor
recreation destination for thousands of anglers, boaters, and campers in summer, while its margins of cliff and forest attract hikers,
hunters, and rock climbers year round. Its remarkably clear waters also attract scores of scuba divers when its depths have warmed. Its
swimming beach is a popular destination for families with young children. In summer, at maximum elevation, Summersville Lake affords
more than 2,790 acres of surface area for recreation. Summersville Lake, near Summersville, WV, is one of several man-made lakes in the New River Gorge region.
