Often mistakenly referred to as "Shays", the GC&R geared steam locomotive were techically a Class-B "Climax" type locomotive, with inclined cylinders, and straight boiler.

This structure is reported to have served the GC&R as its depot in Beckley, WV Photo is looking down present-day 1st Ave., towards Neville Street and present location of the First Baptist Church.

Said to be a photo of 100-foot tunnel on the Glade Creek & Raleigh Railroad, half-way between Raleigh and Mabscott. However, other sources indicate the tunnel was likely near Crow, WV.
